John Krasinski named People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive'

John Krasinski has been crowned People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2024.

The announcement was made Tuesday night on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert."

"It was just an immediate blackout. I had no thoughts," Krasinski told People about his reaction to learning he would be this year's recipient. "Other than that, perhaps I'm being punked. That is not how I wake up, wondering, 'Is this the day I'll be asked to be the Sexiest Man Alive?' And yet, it was the day you two did it. You've truly elevated the bar for me."

Krasinski said his wife Emily Blunt was "very excited" when she heard the news. "There was a lot of joy involved in me telling her," he told People.

Krasinski is best recognized for his roles as Jim Halpert in the American version of the mockumentary sitcom "The Office" and as the titular CIA analyst in the Prime Video series "Jack Ryan." He also directed, co-wrote, and starred in the 2018 film "A Quiet Place" and its 2020 sequel.

This year, Krasinski starred in, wrote, produced, and directed "IF," a fantasy comedy about neighbors Cal and Bea (Ryan Reynolds and Cailey Fleming) who have the ability to perceive the imaginary friends of others. He also produced the apocalyptic horror film "A Quiet Place: Day One," which starred Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn.

People's Sexiest Man Alive issue, featuring an interview with Krasinski, hits newsstands Friday.
